The following is taken from THE AKRON BEACON JOURNAL
JUNE 8,2021; It’s a case study in kindness.
”His sewing needed work, but Todd Earle’s yard maintenance
efforts made the grade with his former home economics teacher,
Adele Looney, 98.”
“Looney , who taught home economics for Wadsworth Middle
School, first got to know Earl as a student who had difficulty
threading a needle.”
“Fortunately, his work in other areas of the class were excellent.
But it was the extra credit with a lawnmower that lasted a
lifetime.”
”In the last 10 years, I’ve taken over more of the house stuff.”
Earle said. When I see stuff I point it out to her,”
Looney remembers his difficulties in sewing; Earle rememberS
the first cooking assignment ... the first cooking assignment
was cinnamon toast to learn how to adjust the temperature
of the oven.”
“It’s a memory he and Looney have shared often...as student
and teacher became friends. Earle and Looneys daughter
and son exchange birthday and Christmas cards...Kristi Earle
sees the relationship as a prime example of small town
neighborliness.”
