Since 2002 the John Looney Internship for Peace, Justice and Nonviolence has been educating young leaders and giving them chances to practice the strategies and techniques of conflict resolution. All are mentors for the program and incorporate principles of nonviolence in their current activities.

ELLEN ZIELINSKI (2002-2003)
After receiving her bachelor's degree in conflict management she worked on many AFSC projects as well as reviewing her college learning with our curriculum.  Next she received her master's degree and worked at the Department of Transportation
in New York City.  Today she works for the NYC Division of Energy Management.

MAUREEN FARRIS(2005-2006)
Right after graduating from Akron St. Vincent HS and while starting her bachelor's degree in education at Akron University she worked as the second JL Intern. Maureen not only received training in Alternatives to Violence but she studied the history of the Peace Movement and developed our film selection as examples of our 12 sessions.  Maureen is a Special Education teacher and is working on her Master's Degree in Education.

SERENA -CLAIRE HANNA(2008-2009)
As a highscool volunteer in the AFSC office Serena knew much about the variety situations requiring conflict resolution skills.  She worked on many projects while taking the ATV Course and even travelled to other AFSC sponsored training. Today Serena is near completing her bachelor's degree from Kent State University in conflict management and environmental science. She hopes to work full time in the Ecology Movement.

ELIZABETH A ROSE(2012-2013)
After graduating with honors from the University of Akron Elizabeth designed our website AlternativesToViolenceCourse.org.  She has much international experience working with websites and young people in their countries.  She has taught English
as a foreign language in Germany, Japan, South Korea and Sri Lanka. This month she is traveling to Jinhua, China. She will soon start a blog about her adventures at LizRoseChina.Tumblr.Com.
