The original materials...The project took six months and involved some twelve people. Almost 300 pages of workbook materials were sorted, edited and prioritized.
We researched websites for video interviews and examples; we chose thirty from various good sources. We created 25 audio video readings and now have our own YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/AFSCstopviolence). Our SoundCloud (soundcloud.com/alternatives-to-violence), of some forty examples in audio, is for all who prefer or need it to follow the course materials.
The Artwork in each session’s masthead and drawings throughout the website were assembled from the commercial art that was part of the family of publications for the original Alternatives to Violence Curriculum.
transformed to the online course. The Alternatives to Violence Course is based on actual case studies, recent and historic, collected for some forty years. Some of these cases have been analyzed in the course sessions. Others are included with the Extra materials for Reflection along with suggested films and carefully chosen applications.
At the end of the Beginners Guide and Discussion Forum, you can find the names of some of the people who worked together with an attitude of respect and dedication to the principles of nonviolence to bring this course online.
